As the title of my post says, yes, I am still alive. Things got so busy there for a while that my poor blog was put on the back burner. But I'm back & super excited to see what 2012 holds for me, my family & AHP!

One of the things I love the most about my job is meeting new people. If you know ME at all, after reading that statement, you're probably saying "Psch!" & thinking you've got to remember to call me later & fuss at me for lying.
I am not a people person. I am terrible at small talk.
(YES, I know it's sunny outside today & that's AWESOME!)
But working in this industry meeting new people is an everyday thing.
The best part about it though is working with those people throughout the most exciting days, weeks, months - sometimes even years of their lives. Somehow in the midst of all that you move from having a photographer-client relationship to having a friend-friend relationship. One minute you're talking about the best spot around the church to do wedding party photos & the next you're trying to figure out if the blue napkins or the green napkins are going to look better at the reception.
It really is a neat dynamic that I've truly come to cherish.
ANYWAY - the reason for all of my babbling is because that's exactly what happened between Tonya & I.
I met Tonya last October at Tiffany Formby's wedding, she was a bridesmaid. We chit chatted here & there about her recent engagement, etc. Eventually we got things together & started working to create a customized package specific to what Tonya & Cole were looking for. Engagement photos in the fall, bridals in the early summer & tons of time to cover all of the basis on their big day.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Tonya (Cole & Mrs. Leontine too!) but enjoyed the friendship we created even more! |

Jonathan and I try to count our blessings every day. We really do. But, you know how hard it can be. The kiddo is fussy, the husband is messy, the house is a disaster, there is never enough time, or money, etc….Well, today, we had one of the best reminders to not sweat the small stuff, and to be grateful that we are safe and healthy and TOGETHER. Over the past few days I've been speaking with Nicole, a military wife. Ben, her husband, is deploying on Sunday so she wanted to do an impromptu photo shoot to commemorate the place they're currently at in their relationship as husband and wife. We enjoyed a few smotheringly hot but rain free hours capturing the images you see below.
Nicole - I hope the images from your shoot bring a smile to your face in the months to come & a sense of peace that angels are encamped around Ben as he travels overseas.
Ben - Because I am not in your shoes, I know I will never fully appreciate the sacrifices you make for me, your family, your friends and your country every day. It is because of your sacrifices that I am able to enjoy my freedom. So with sincerity and humility, I simply say "thank you" for all you've done and continue to do for me, my family, my friends and our country.

I love Florida. The beach, the ocean, drinking coffee on the balcony listening to the waves. It all makes for the perfect vacation.

I know I'm not one for words, but let me tell you - I have never met a bride like Megan. She was the epitome of calm & relaxed on her wedding day. Example - the woman ate Krystal's for lunch. Brave!!
Blake on the other hand, well he might have been pacing just a bit & he did ask me during his photos if Megan was nervous. About 15 times.
A little backwards don't ya think? :)

So, if you haven't noticed, life for me is pretty busy.
I have a husband who is constantly on the go, an almost-toddler who is ninety to nothing, a part time job working for my church & a thriving photography business that has been keeping me up until WAY too late at night. (Okay, maybe the last one is my fault...)
So what do I do when I have a few minutes of free time?
A project.
In my kitchen on the wall next to the window is this:

It's a 12x7 magnet board that has collected lots of my favorite photos of the little miss. I just wish it wasn't so small!!
So I remedied it by making a much bigger magnet board.

I LOVE the finished product & it only took me about an hour total to make. It's 24x72 & I am sure it'll be full before the month is out! |
